2025 Season Events

  • Litter Pluck

    April 26 9:30-11:00 AM

    Following Earth Day and in conjunction with the Upper Delaware Council, we’ll be hosting a trash cleanup day. Gloves, grabbers, safety equipment, and t-shirts will be provided. Safe location far away from motor vehicles and suitable for children of all ages. RSVP for location.

  • Cooking Over Fire & Fire Safety

    May 17 9:30-12:30 PM

    After the burn ban lifts, we’ll be hosting a fire building demo and sharing fire safety tips from a local volunteer firefighter. Afterward, Adrienne Snobeck of Nourishment Over Fire will teach us about cooking over fire with kids! We’ll end with some snacks and lunch cooked over the fire.

  • Hiking Meetup

    June 21 9:30-11:30 AM

    We’ll meet for a hike on a local trail, slightly sloped and easy to traverse in a wagon for younger kids. We’ll learn about local plants and animals as we encounter them. This trail has access to water features so bring your water shoes and a change of clothes. All ages welcome.

  • Farm Visit

    July 26 9:30-11:30 AM

    Meetup at a local working farm where we will learn about animals, farm life, and the work that goes into growing our food.

  • Hike & Dip Meetup

    August 16 9:30-11:30 AM

    We’ll meet at a location with a very easy flat trail and shallow beachy lake access. Bring swim clothes! All ages welcome.

  • Trout Hatchery Visit

    September 20 9:30-11:30 AM

    We’ll meet at a local trout hatchery and learn about the process of raising trout for our local waterways. You’ll have the chance to order-in-advance some trout to take home for dinner.

  • Foraging Meetup

    October 11 9:30-11:30 AM

    We’ll meet in a wild forested area and learn about edible and medicinal wild plants. We’ll cover foraging safety and introduce kids to some easily-identifiable, safe plants to eat.

  • Field Journaling Meetup

    November 15 10:00-11:00 AM

    We’ll meet in a forested area to record our surroundings, learn about trees, insects, and birds, and practice illustration of local flora and fauna.

  • Wintersports Meetup

    December 13 10:00-11:30 AM

    We’ll meet at a local Roscoe business for ice skating and/or sledding depending on weather and group preference.

All meetups will happen at locations within 30 minutes driving distance from the town of Roscoe, NY.
